Waterside Pool and Other Fun Stuff
Calliope, Yeppoon, Airlie Beach and Townsville

At Calliope we camped by the river. We walked to a little sandbar and made sandcastles. We drove to get some firewood and put a big stick on the roof of the car. Then we made a campfire. The next day we went to an historical village and we saw an old jail cell. In the olden days people lived in tiny houses or slept on the dirt. They had an old school room and we pretended we were at school.
Next we went to Yeppoon. When we got there Jack fell over and started crying. He was crying sooooo loudly that our next door neighbour gave him a packet of marshmallows to share with us to make him stop crying. We went to the beach and made a ginormous sandcastle. We went and swam in the pool too. We made friends with 2 girls and with a dog called Bonnie.
Next was Cape Hillsborough. We walked over to an island and watched some turtles in the water. We made friends with some more girls called Isabel and Maddy and all went to the pool. It was Mum’s birthday and we had caramel mud cake. The place made scones for everyone. We went on lots of bushwalks with our friends. We talked to our friends in the morning from our beds through the windows.
At Airlie Beach we had fun. The place is so cool because it has a jumping pillow, a playground, basketball, tennis, a big pool with 2 waterslides and minigolf. I came 2nd in minigolf (Dad came 1st). We visited the lagoon in town and I swam under the bridge. On a cruise we went to Daydream Island. I snorkelled and saw coral and fish. The toilet had shells and plants built into the seat. We had lunch at the restaurant and then travelled to Whitsunday Island. Going to the toilet on the boat was fun because it was wobbly and I couldn’t get on. Then we went upstairs and the driver said that the water was twelve metres deep. It was cool how he drove and he put his leg out the window to steer the boat into the jetty. We didn’t get home until 7 o’clock.
At Townsville we went on another boat to Magnetic Island. We swam at the beach and I swam to the buoy. The kids dug a really big hole and made a tunnel and a fence around it. At the end we bought ice creams and mine was choc mint. Townsville had a cool flying fox and lots of places to swim. Finally we found a water park that was open and when the bucket filled up it spilled all over me.
